New 3 HP Compressor Duty Electric Motor, 3450 RPM, 56 Frame, 5/8" Shaft Diameter, 230 Volt

When first unboxing, the first red flag was that there was no manual databook, or any paperwork included with the motor. Another issue was that the key had been press fit and required a grinder and quite a bit of force to remove.After removing the key, I wired up the motor according to the wiring diagram printed on the side of the motor and fired it up for a test run. Although the motor was securely clamped to my 250lb work bench, it began to vibrate and rattle with the force of a small earthquake.My plan was to wall mount this motor but I am quite afraid that the extreme vibrations will eventually work it loose causing a big safety issue. I will have to open it up to see if I can at least find the source of the rattling noise. Troubleshooting motor vibration/imbalance issues may be beyond my skill set.I would definitely return this product if I hadn't already mangled the end of the shaft while pulling out the key.
